How can a developer stand out from the crowd?
As a developer, do you need to make use of some marketing to further your career? We are not some sort of salespeople, but we are great engineers. We are paid for our knowledge, but not for chatting, goofing-off, etc…
All of these pathos and pink dreams>use more common idiom (optional)> rose-colored glasses/lofty expectations will be broken with the next job search. For the best positions, supply always exceeds demand. Maybe you are a super expert who knows how the programming language works at the assembler level and recite Tanenbaum during<while/when explaining cache memory working principle. But nobody knows it and never will.
There are two very basic things you need to have in your resume: your education level and your experience. Neither one has to be in the best shape, for example, studying at a bad university in a small city or for an unknown company, or lacking either one of those points. Some people don’t have a high school diploma, some people work at “the family gas station” company, etc. The bad news is you need at least 5 years to fix any of these issues.
The good news is a developer has much more<many more tools, including courses, pet projects, awards, articles, etc. With due diligence you can build a great portfolio just for<in one year. in=inside time period / for = as a present for, for the purpose of
What are the benefits? It just picks you out from< makes you stand out from the crowd. Most applicants even for Ssenior level have nothing from this list. If you sit just now and build a plan for the year: write 2 articles, build 2 pet projects, make 2 youtube videos, etc (doesn’t that sound like an unrealistic<realistic purpose for the whole year?). (Doesn’t that sound completely possible to do in one year?- take out the double negative.) It will significantly increase the chance for a job interview invitation. And here<then you can show how smart you are. And (even here) it even adds a couple extra points and it can change the balance between you and another candidate, or maybe you will get a higher salary.
TLDR
Look for confirmation of your competencies.<Look for ways to prove(show/showcase) your skills. Nobody evaluates your genius while you are sitting in your cave and watching the next series.<great last sentence!
